
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to confirm collection requirements, prepare client and equipment and collect specimens via urine and/or oral and breath testing following the special procedures that apply for drugs of abuse testing.
This unit applies to individuals working in collection centres, in hospitals, in other health care environments and workplaces where drugs of abuse testing takes place.
The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards and industry codes of practice.
Developed to meet legislative requirements for drug testing in accordance with Australian Standards: AS/NZS 4308 Procedures for specimen collection and the detection and quantitation of drugs of abuse in urine & AS 4760 Procedures for specimen collection and the detection and quantitation of drugs in oral fluid.

This course is delivered through a scheduled, live and interactive Google Meet session facilitated by Andatech Team on behalf of METEX Solutions Pty Ltd.
Learners must attend and participate for the full scheduled session. The course includes trainer-led instruction, demonstrations, practical specimen-collection activities, completion of chain-of-custody documentation and formal assessment.
This is live online training and is not a fully self-paced course.
Indicative duration: 8 hours of live online training, plus any required pre-course learning or assessment activities.
Learners must successfully complete all knowledge and practical assessment requirements. Additional time or reassessment may be required where competency is not demonstrated during the scheduled session.

Practical assessment is conducted live through Google Meet. Learners must keep their camera operating and position it so the trainer and assessor can clearly observe each required activity.
Competency is not awarded solely for attending the online session. Learners must successfully complete every required assessment activity.
