Hydrocarbon Spill Response
Course Overview
This online Oil Spill Response Awareness course gives workers across the mining, construction, maintenance and service industries the knowledge and confidence to respond safely and effectively when a spill occurs. It covers everything from identifying the right equipment and performing a site risk assessment, through to applying the internationally recognised 3 C's framework — Control, Contain, Clean Up — on both land and water.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course Participants will be able to:
- The characteristics, purpose and correct use of common hydrocarbon spill response equipment
- How to identify a spill hazard and take the appropriate immediate action
- How to apply the 3 C's — Control, Contain, Clean Up — in a real spill scenario
- How to manage a spill incident on both land and water
- How to conduct a workplace risk assessment for potential spills and select the right equipment for the response
Program Duration
The course is self-paced and takes approximately 45 minutes to complete and Participants have 3 months to complete after enrolment.
