Course Overview

General Information

 The Mine Site Safety Supervisor course covers safety management and legal responsibilities regarding OH&S and mining legislation. It will teach you how to isolate and minimise risk at your work site, investigate incidents and their causes, knowledge of the factors for effective oral communication site conventions and requirements for written communications including report writing, meeting procedures and follow-up requirements, conducting a presentation and basic negotiating techniques and their application. 

Entry Requirements

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy Requirements

Participants will require sufficient language skills to be able to communicate with others in a clear and concise manner. Enough literacy skills to be able to read and comply with work instructions and specifications and writing skills to be able to complete written reports.  

RIIRIS301E: Apply Risk Management Processes (G1 - Formerly S1)

This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to apply risk management processes in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries. This unit is appropriate for those working in operational or supervisory roles. 

RIIWHS301E Conduct Health and Safety Investigations (G8 – formerly S2)

This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to conduct safety and health investigations in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries. This unit is appropriate for those working in technical specialist roles. 

RIICOM301E Communicate Information (G9 – formerly S3)

This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to carry out risk management processes in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries. This unit is appropriate for those working in supervisory roles. 

Course Duration

3 Days for delivery plus the completion of theory and practical assessment tasks.
